Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid provides an injury update on LB Nick Bolton after the Week 7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks
The Kansas City Chiefs escaped the Week 7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks relatively unscathed, which feels like something worth celebrating.
There wasn’t much to celebrate after the Kansas City Chiefs’ 20-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, but the injury situation might actually be one of those things.
The team was missing several pieces in Week 7, with Tyquan Thornton, Rashee Rice, Jaylon Moore, and Josh Simmons among the injured starters. Another starter on defense got banged up during the game, but his injury doesn’t appear to be anything serious.
“There’s not really any injuries to mention,” Reid said, before mentioning the lone injury. ” Nick (Bolton) had some spasms in his neck, and he’ll work through that and be OK.”
Bolton played some inspired run defense against the Seahawks on Sunday, leading the team with six solo stops, 11 combined tackles, and a tackle for loss. He was dinged in the third quarter, missing just a single snap. Bolton returned to the game and made a play that forced a Seattle field goal, extending the lead to 13. He was staggered a bit later in the second half, but didn’t leave the game.
The good news is that Bolton doesn’t appear to be at any risk of missing time. He’s been a force on defense this year and remains the team’s green dot and defensive play-caller.
The Chiefs should be healthier when they face the Broncos in Week 8
The Chiefs will look to bounce back against an AFC West rival in Week 8. It won’t be easy as they travel to Mile High Stadium to face the Denver Broncos, but the team should be healthier for this game.
Jaylon Moore will have a chance to clear the NFL’s concussion protocol during practice this week. They need him at right tackle for this one because Joshua Ezeudu struggled in his first start. It won’t be any easier facing Jonathon Cooper and Nik Bonitto next Sunday.
Similarly, the Chiefs’ receivers struggled to create separation in Week 7’s loss to Seattle. Rashee Rice isn’t exactly a burner at wide receiver. However, he’s another trusted target who can help open things up in the passing game for Kansas City. Rice is several weeks removed from the initial hamstring injury. He should realistically be able to return to the practice field in some capacity next Wednesday.
