The Kansas City Chiefs have released their final injury report ahead of Week 6 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Speaking to the media on Friday afternoon, Chiefs HC Andy Reid ruled out WR Rashee Rice (hamstring) and LT Josh Simmons (back) for Week 6. Rice did not participate in practice this week; however, he was seen on the sideline coaching up second-year WR Jalen Royals. Simmons was a limited participant all week, which Coach Reid said was intentional.

“Yeah, he got some work,” Reid said. “He didn’t work in the team periods, but that was the idea that we went out with, just so we could get some base in there with some fundamentals and technique and start getting that back.”

Simmons continues to make incremental strides toward returning after missing practically two months with a bulging disc in his back.

“Yeah, he was excited to be out there,” Reid said of Simmons. “Just be back with the guys and out there on the field, instead of the meeting room.”

Here’s a quick breakdown of each team’s final Week 6 injury report, including game-status designations. Keep in mind that clubs can add to the injury report through kickoff on Sunday.

Observations

  • After appearing on the injury report for the first time Thursday with a neck injury, Chiefs rookie DT Peter Woods practiced fully and has no game-day status designation.
  • The Chiefs are listing CB L’Jarius Sneed as questionable with his knee injury. It’s a constant battle, and this week it seems to be giving him more trouble than not.
  • Chiefs HC Andy Reid on whether Rashee Rice would be available for Week 7: “Yeah, I mean, you guys saw him out there. He’s out there and wanting to jump in on everything, and he’ll be all right. You never know about these (hamstring injuries), but he’s a pretty fast healer.”

KEY: DNP = Did not participate | LP = Limited participation | FP = Full participation | NIR = Not injury related

Observations

  • This team is one of the most banged up in the NFL, with 13 players carrying game-status designations. The one saving grace for Los Angeles is WR Ladd McConkey, who will play.
  • The Chargers will miss both starting offensive tackles (Joe Alt & Rashawn Slater), starting left guard (Kayode Awosika), starting receiver (Tre Harris), starting cornerback (Donte Jackson), and starting safety (Derwin James).
