The Kansas City Chiefs have put their Week 5 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars behind them as they look to knock off the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football.
All members of the Chiefs’ active roster participated in full during Wednesday’s practice. They were almost able to duplicate that on Thursday, but one player took a step back. As for the Lions, they are in rough shape along their offensive line and in their defensive secondary. Let’s examine each team’s full injury reports.
Chiefs’ Thursday injury report
| Player | Injury | W/TH |
| WR Xavier Worthy | Shoulder/Ankle | FP/DNP |
| CB Kristian Fulton | Ankle | FP/FP |
| LB Nick Bolton | Calf | FP/FP |
| LB Jeffrey Bassa | Knee | FP/FP |
| DE Charles Omenihu | Ankle | FP/FP |
| DT Omarr Norman-Lott | Shoulder | FP/FP |
| WR JuJu Smith-Schuster | Knee | FP/FP |
| WR Hollywood Brown | Ankle | FP/FP |
| OT Jawaan Taylor | Knee | FP/FP |
| RB Kareem Hunt | Calf | FP/FP |
| QB Patrick Mahomes | Groin | FP/FP |
Observations
- Worthy had a setback on Thursday and did not participate in practice. He began to experience swelling in his ankle just one day before the Chiefs’ matchup against the Jaguars on Monday night, but he was able to play through it. K.C. may be just being cautious with Worthy, but we’ll know more about his game status on tomorrow’s final injury report.
- Fulton and Norman-Lott appear to be on track to return and play this week. Norman-Lott missed last week’s game with a shoulder injury, and Fulton has been out since Week 2 with an ankle injury.
Lions’ Thursday injury report
| Player | Injury | W/TH |
| CB Terrion Arnold | Shoulder | DNP/DNP |
| LB Zach Cunningham | Hamstring | DNP/DNP |
| OT Taylor Decker | Shoulder | DNP/DNP |
| S Kerby Joseph | Knee | DNP/DNP |
| DB Brian Branch | Ankle | LP/LP |
| DB Avonte Maddox | Hamstring | -/LP |
| OL Giovanni Manu | Knee | -/LP |
| WR Kalif Raymond | Neck | DNP/LP |
| DT Alim McNeill | Knee | FP/FP |
| WR Amon-Ra St. Brown | Wrist | DNP/FP |
| RB Sione Vaki | Groin | FP/FP |
Observations
- Maddox and Manu are new additions to Detroit’s injury report. Both were limited on Thursday.
- Decker, who is the Lions’ starting left tackle, missed practice for the second consecutive day. To make matters worse, Manu is his backup, meaning Detroit could be without both of their LTs on Sunday night.
- Joseph also missed a second straight day of practice. The Lions’ secondary is already decimated by injuries, and will be even more so if Joseph can’t play.
- On a positive note, star WR St. Brown returned to practice on Thursday and participated in full.
