Kansas City Chiefs’ preseason Week 1 roster info
Expect that these players will sit out due to injuries: DT Omarr Norman-Lott (knee), RG Trey Smith (hip), LB Drue Tranquill (back), CB L’Jarius Sneed (knee), WR Jimmy Holiday (undisclosed), and CB Mansoor Delane (shoulder). S Chamarri Conner (knee) and CB Kader Kohou (ankle) could return after getting the day off on Thursday at training camp.
Chiefs HC Andy Reid confirmed that QB Patrick Mahomes won’t start during the preseason.
“It’ll be (QB) Justin (Fields), and then (QB Garrett) Nussmeier, and then (QB) Chris (Oladokun) will take it from there. So, we’ll just see how the reps go as we work through them.”
He wouldn’t commit to fewer starters than normal playing in preseason Week 1. When specifically asked about the offensive line competition and whether Jaylon Moore and Kahlil Benson would play, his answer was telling.
“Yeah, I mean, listen, there’s a chance they get in and play,” Reid said. “How much I can’t tell you that.”
If I had to guess, the starting offensive line will get a series or two with Fields.
