Taylor Swift’s song “CANCELLED!” from her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, has had fans talking all day. Specifically, everyone has theories about who she is singing about, with the most popular answers being Brittany Mahomes and Blake Lively.

In the song, the singer says she likes “her friends cancelled.”

“I like ’em cloaked in Gucci and in scandal / Like my whiskey sour, and poison thorny flowers / Welcome to my underworld where it gets quite dark / At least you know exactly who your friends are / They’re the ones with matching scars,” Swift sings in the chorus.

Specifically, that Gucci line was what drew people in, remembering that Brittany wore an outfit from the designer when spotted at Wimbledon last summer.

And fans were going off with their theories on social media.

“so “cancelled” is objectively the best song on her new album but tea is its about brittany mahomes,” one fan wrote

“So we all agree that Cancelled is about Brittany Mahomes right??,” another person commented.

However, it seemed that the main consensus was that the song was about Blake Likely.

Why Do Fans Think “CANCELLED!” is about Blake Lively

In an Amazon Music introduction to the song, Swift detailed her reason for writing this song.

“Having had my own experiences with mass judgment and being at the center of many dramatic, sort of scandalous moments in my career,” she explained. “It makes me move through the world a little bit differently and when other people go through it find yourself thinking about how they’re probably gonna get smarter because of this. If they can get through it, if they can tough enough, they can actually learn some things through this process.”

“I don’t just naturally cast people aside just because other people decide they don’t like them,” Swift added. “I make my own decisions about people based on how they treat me within my life and their actions.”

Blake Lively has been at the center of a legal battle with It Ends With Us director and costar Justin Baldoni, for which Swift was subpoenaed for by Baldoni, but it was ultimately withdrawn. That had many speculating that this affected her relationship with Lively.

However, based on the lyrics, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

“Taylor Swift saying f*** everyone who said she had to drop Blake Lively and “cancelled” basically being a defender song,” one fan wrote.

“Cancelled is definitely about Blake lively. “Welcome to my under world” aka Taylor knows the feeling of being witch-hunted,” another fan commented.
