Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce just had another version of his infamous pre-game situation with Justin Tucker
The Kansas City Chiefs got a classic moment from tight end Travis Kelce, and it was awesome.
The Kansas City Chiefs beat down the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football. And we had a glimpse of the Travis Kelce we all know and love.
No, I’m not even talking about his play on the field, although that 59-yard pass completion where he barreled down the field and almost scored was pretty amazing. I’m referring to what he did before the game. Many of you may have no idea what even happened, but it was the classic Travis Kelce pregame stunt.
Steve Coughlin, better known as Stanford Steve, was on Scott Van Pelt’s podcast and shared a little nugget from pregame. Coughlin was at the game on Monday Night Football, as he works for ESPN. He said Kelce played some mind games with the Broncos before the game started.
Travis Kelce gave the Broncos and their ball boy a rough time pregame
“The punters for the Broncos messed up their timing,” Coughlin claimed. “I don’t know if they got out there late or the timing, or they started (late) because the receivers and tight ends were running routes on air with [Chiefs quarterback Patrick] Mahomes and the quarterbacks.
“Travis’ eyes lit up, and he sees the ball. And he sees the ball, and it’s a Broncos ball, and it goes over toward the Broncos sideline, and he catches his route, runs over to the ball, takes the Broncos ball and punts it almost to the second deck. Good punter. Now the Broncos ball boy is running over because he knows — he saw Travis do it again. Travis is like, ‘No,’ he beats [the ball boy] to the ball, takes the Broncos ball and chucks it up into the stands.”
This isn’t the first time this has happened. Kelce got into it with former Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker in 2024. This one was similar.
“If you want to be a (expletive) about it, you keep your helmet and your football and your (expletive) kicking tee right where the quarterbacks are warming up . … If you’re not going to pick that up, I’ll happily move that for you,” Kelce said on his “New Heights” podcast with brother Jason Kelce. “Justin came out, and he said it was more of a joking gesture and kind of a fun, competitive [move], and I get it. He was kind of winking at me, being a (expletive) about it, trying to get under the skin. … We just weren’t in a joking mood. We were ready to get after it.”
It feels like we’re getting a classic Travis Kelce in 2026.
