The Philadelphia Eagles are dealing with a bit of transition under general manager Howie Roseman. Shortly following the 2026 NFL draft, the Eagles have seen two important executives exit the team in short succession.
Eagles lose second front office member in recent days
According to multiple reports, Eagles assistant GM Alec Halaby is stepping away from the organization. He will be starting a new chapter of his career, but the specifics of his next steps are currently unknown.
Bryce Johnston, an Eagles salary cap and contract expert, announced that he was leaving the team recently in order to take an executive role with the Atlanta Falcons org.
Halaby released a statement following his decision. He is clearly thankful for his time with the team but is headed towards a new beginning in his career.
“I am deeply grateful to the Eagles organization, especially [Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie] and [GM Howie Roseman], for giving me a chance to work in the game I love,” Halaby said in a statement. “Jeffrey’s stewardship has created a first-class organization. Howie has been a mentor to me from Day One, for which I am greatly appreciative. It has been a rare privilege to contribute to building championship teams for the city of Philadelphia. The experience has been enriched by a set of special relationships with front office colleagues, coaches, and players. Football has been a core part of my life for as long as I can remember; that won’t change. Nevertheless, after 17 years in Philadelphia, I’ve decided to step away to start a new professional chapter. Halaby has often been mentioned in general manager circles when openings have become available in recent years around the NFL.
The Eagles executive joined the team in 2007 as an intern. Since then, he has risen the ranks all the way up to assistant GM and played a major hand in the team’s success over the past decade. Philly will miss him and now must look for a replacement.
