Raiders' immediate head-coaching candidate hot board
The Las Vegas Raiders finally fired Josh McDaniels, as it only took owner Mark Davis a full season and a half to see that it was the wrong decision. But, at the same time, you'd like to wait it out because they did invest some pretty hefty money into the guy. Mark Davis gave Josh McDaniels a six-year contract when he hired him, and he now has to pay the remaining four years on his deal.
But we knew that would be the case. Now, the question is, who will be the next head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders? This will be their 20th head coach ever and the third head coach since 2018. Just like we have said the last few times, the next guy has to be the right guy. However, this one has to be the right guy, even more than the last one was, because then they would have even more coaches on the payroll, not coaching for them.
We must think about every possible guy who could be the head coach for the Raiders in 2024 and pick the best ones based on a few different criteria. Obviously, the biggest part will be who is the best fit. What coach can get the team to win the fastest, and of course, a few other things.
Here are the best five guys the Raiders should look at hiring for the upcoming season:
1. Ben Johnson, Detroit Lions OC
2. Mike MacDonald, Baltimore Ravens DC
3. Rich Bisaccia, Green Bay Packers STC
4. Lincoln Riley, USC HC
5. Jim Harbaugh, Michigan HC
Right now, Antonio Pierce, the former Raiders' linebacker coach, is the interim coach, so let's see how that plays out; however, if it looks like he won't get a chance in 2024, these are some great options to consider. Some of these guys make the most sense based on what we know Mark Davis wants and not necessarily who are the best coaches available, so keep that in mind.
