The Las Vegas Raiders are in a much better position now than they were this time last year. They’ve nearly beaten the Kansas City Chiefs and look like a good football team. Despite the loss, their performance is good news. The bad news is they walked away with one injury to a starter.

“Jalen Nailor has a concussion,” head coach Klint Kubiak told reporters after the game.

That was the only injury he reported, and as far as I’m concerned, the only one that really happened for the Raiders. Well, that one and the Trey Zuhn injury that happened. Then again, Zuhn ended up going back in the game on field goals. However, there were a few times when running back Ashton Jeanty was slow to get up or winced in pain.

Nailor wasn’t a huge part of the passing game before that. In fact, he hasn’t been much of a factor all year. Nailor has been bad. He’s got five catches for 52 yards this year. That’s probably lower than what they had planned for him, considering the money they spent. He’s still part of the passing game and the offense, though. Missing him means someone else who’s likely not as good or as prepared has to step in. As far as the Chiefs, they got it way worse than the Raiders.

Chiefs leave Week 4 vs. Raiders with multiple injuries

“Alright, as far as the injuries go, we had a couple pretty good ones here with Tyquan Thornton’s ankle,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said after the game. “That doesn’t look good, but he’s going to fly back with us, and we’ll get further evaluation later. Rashee Rice tweaked his hamstring there.”

Obviously, thoughts and prayers to Thornton, as that was a bad injury, as you will see. And he made some huge plays. Thornton caught 5/8 targets for a career-high 111 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns in Week 4 against the Raiders. Much of that production came on deep passes (20+ air yds), as Thornton caught 2/3 deep targets for 97 yards. Next Gen Stats credit him with both touchdowns on out-breaking routes. He is a vital part of their offense; they will be without him for a bit.
