Lionel Messi and his great World Cup game helped reveal an embarrassing stat that Raiders fans won’t want to be reminded of
The Las Vegas Raiders have struggled at certain venues in the past, but Lionel Messi has no weaknesses.
The Las Vegas Raiders are looking like they could have a bright future. And since everything has been so positive of late, it’s only right that we remind all die-hard Raiders fans what it could be, just to keep everyone in mind that this next year is more of a developmental year in the rebuild.
The World Cup is in the U.S. right now, and somehow, even though American football isn’t even on, the soccer world found a way to mention a terrible Raiders stat. Lionel Messi, who’s likely the greatest soccer player of all time, won on Tuesday. He scored a hat trick inside Arrowhead Stadium, where the Chiefs play. And yet, with that being his second win at Arrowhead, he passed Derek Carr for the most wins there.
Yes, I know, it’s embarrassing, but also funny. It just shows you how bad it’s been, and in a way, it gives you hope for what’s to come. Carr was 1-9 in KC. Messi is 2-0, with a win in the MLS against Sporting KC and a win in the World Cup against Algeria, 3-0.
Now, looking back, I think a lot of Raiders fans would agree that Carr winning just one game at Arrowhead, and that one time being the time they drove the bus around the stadium, is kind of hilarious and stupid. Luckily, this new era and regime don’t seem to be doing that anytime soon.
Raiders’ new era could find itself with more wins within the AFC West
Part of that stat comes from Carr just being in the wrong era. He played some amazing teams as a Raider. And, he played on some really bad teams. The Raiders shouldn’t have too much more of that in the future. This new regime means business.
And, I know we have said it a million times, but this time, this regime genuinely feels different. So, not only will they find themselves with more wins than in the past few years, but the Chiefs could also be on a downward trajectory, for all we know.
