Pete Carroll provides news on a situation that happened during the Raiders’ first preseason game, which may have gone unnoticed
The Las Vegas Raiders did not finish the game completely healthy against the Seattle Seahawks.
There were so many things that happened to the Las Vegas Raiders and in their game against the Seattle Seahawks. Like we have mentioned one million times now, it was the first time we got to see the new look offense and the new regime.
Sure, it was a preseason game, but I’m not sure I can remember a Raiders preseason game as hyped and as important as this one. And with that sort of pressure on their shoulders, the Raiders absolutely blew it in the beginning of the game, you know, when their starters failed to move the ball hardly at all and actually punted.
But, that’s not really that big of a story. Don’t get me wrong, it is a story, but there are much bigger things at hand to talk about — Cam Miller possibly winning over the QB2 spot behind Geno Smith, some depth pieces on the defensive line doing well like Trever Ma’ae blocking the field goal, and so many other things.
But there was one that kind of got overlooked, or maybe people didn’t notice. There was a player doing some pretty good damage to the Seahawks, and then, all of a sudden, he wasn’t in the game anymore.
Raiders WR Alex Bachman left with injury vs. Seahawks
Bachman connected with Aidan O’Connell on the one good drive they did have early in the game — the drive that led to their first points, for a 30 yard pass. Bachman was also O’Connell’s go-to guy on third down to hit with those jock out routes, or speed outs.
But, he randomly just stopped coming in the game. The broadcast really only mentioned it once, so it’s possible you could have missed it, but the Raiders did say that he left the game with an injury.
After the game, Carroll gave everyone the news regarding Bachman, who is fighting for a 53-man roster spot, and has a case for one so far.
“He’s fine…he’s had an ankle that’s bothered him,” Carroll told reporters.
Bachman finished the game with two catches for 36 yards, including the 33 yarder from O’Connell that got the Raiders in a goal-to-go situation. Bachman did finish second in targets behind Collin Johnson.
