Updated look at the Las Vegas Raiders' 2023 draft picks
The Las Vegas Raiders' 2022 season is over, but the franchise is in a great spot to land some very good players that can help the team get back into the postseason in 2023.
Thanks to their 6-11 record, the Raiders currently hold the seventh overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Per Over The Cap, the Raiders are set up with 11 total draft picks in 2023 after compensatory selections are included.
In other words: they have a lot of picks.
The Raiders compiled their stockpile through trading wide receiver Bryan Edwards to the Atlanta Falcons for the No. 144 pick, defensive lineman Jonathan Hankins to the Dallas Cowboys for the 202nd pick, cornerback Trayon Mullen to the Arizona Cardinals for the 222nd pick, and the final seventh-rounder is a byproduct of the Raiders' decision to trade for offensive tackle Justin Herron, whom played for the New England Patriots at the time.
Obviously, the draft order isn't official past pick No. 18 because the playoffs kick off on Saturday. But, even with that, many still have a good idea when it comes to where the Raiders pick in the 2023 draft.
Below are the aforementioned 11 picks, which are subject to change depending on how the rest of the season plays out. OTC has also adjusted for Miami's forfeited first-round pick:
1. Round 1, pick No. 7
2. Round 2, pick No. 38
3. Round 3, pick No. 70
4. Round 4, pick No. 108
5. Round 5, pick No. 141
6. Round 5, pick No. 144 (via Falcons)
7. Round 5, pick No. 174 (projected compensatory pick)
8. Round 6, pick No. 202 (via Cowboys)
9. Round 6, pick No. 219 (projected compensatory pick)
10. Round 7, pick No. 222 (via Cardinals)
11. Round 7, pick No. 233 (via Patriots)
The Raiders are just pick-wealthy, either. Head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler will have a little more than $50 million in cap room after Derek Carr is released or traded.
With all things considered, it's easy to see why the Raiders are in line to have a very interesting offseason.
