You want to know how it was a productive bye week for the Miami Dolphins?

Because they made the most of their time away to get healthy. And, according to Miami Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley, the fruit of that labor is now evident. As the Dolphins return from their Week 6 bye, they’ll have several players who were ailing back on the field with them. Hafley offered a rundown on Monday morning.

Rookie wide receiver Caleb Douglas? Limited today but there’s “optimism” there, per Hafley. Rookie safety Kyle Louis, who was placed on injured reserve early this season with an MCL sprain? The team hopes to have him back on the field Wednesday and working towards a return. Guard Jonah Savaiinaea left the team’s Week 5 loss to Cincinnati with a lower leg injury. He will also be limited starting today.

All are good news for the Dolphins. Douglas in particular could be a needle-moving return. And Louis, who was a tweener in college at Pitt, could possibly offer the Dolphins a little something different for their base packages. Louis would likely struggle if faced with playing SAM linebacker on early downs, but he could eventually be a viable replacement in base defense on passing downs when the Dolphins need to match heavy personnel. Louis would be a much better coverage option than veteran Willie Gay.

The team’s primary SAM linebacker, Trey Moore, is not yet ready for a return to action, per Hafley. But given all the good news Miami has on the injury front going into this week, it’s hard to complain. Beggars can’t be choosers.
