‘Part of their future’—The NFL’s two biggest insiders throw cold water on trade speculation around one Miami Dolphins player

The Miami Dolphins will surely receive phone calls ahead of the 2026 NFL Trade Deadline. But ESPN’s biggest insiders threw cold water on one possible target.

The Miami Dolphins are, at 0-5 entering Week 7, not going to be confused for a traditional buyer at the 2026 NFL trade deadline. But they shouldn’t be confused for a traditional seller, either.

The Dolphins have already done most of the “selling” of the 2026 calendar year. But that may not stop teams from calling and inquiring about some talent on the roster. ESPN insiders Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport released a Sunday morning report and essentially threw cold water on one possible name to get moved. Former first-round pick Chop Robinson is the OPPOSITE of available.

“Everyone needs pass-rushing help this time of year, and promising cheap, young edge rushers are attractive. Considering the Miami Dolphins‘ winless record, Robinson is a name expected to garner some interest.

Yet Robinson is improving in Miami, and for a team collecting talent, keeping young players in-house makes sense. General manager Jon-Eric Sullivan will always answer the phone, but the Dolphins view Robinson as part of their future, rather than a trade chip.”

That’s about as strong of an endorsement as you can cook up for a Dolphins team that is very much in flux. And after an unassuming first few weeks of the 2026 season, Robinson has indeed played better in the last month. It’s a promising development. Both for Robinson as an individual and for the Dolphins’ build.

With so may open needs across the roster, having a number of players fall into place as long-term building blocks is essential for this season’s outlook. And it sounds like, according to Schefter and Rapoport, that Robinson is well on his way to doing exactly that. So hands off at the deadline, buyers across the league!
