Minnesota Vikings are living their worst Week 1 nightmare after Kyler Murray was knocked out of the game on vicious hit
It’s a brutal situation that the Minnesota Vikings are dealing with just a few days into the season opener against the Green Bay Packers.
It didn’t take long for the Minnesota Vikings to get the worst possible news regarding quarterback Kyler Murray.
On just the third drive of the game, Murray tucked the ball and ran on third down. In the process, he got smacked with a late hit, knocking his helmet off. He was brought to the locker room and is being evaluated for a concussion.
It didn’t take long for him to be ruled out either, as it happened just a few minutes into the second quarter.

You could tell that Murray was hurt the second he was hit. He tried to get down to the ground, got hit by one Packers defender who pulled his helmet up, and then got smacked right in the head by the next defender. Being that he’s going to the ground, it’s not exactly a legal hit, but it’s also something where it’s hard to stop at full speed.
It’s a tough one for the Vikings and Murray, who has dealt with injuries throughout his career. One injury he has yet to suffer is a concussion, as his injuries have been to his ankle, foot, and knee. Those injury concerns were why many didn’t trust him as the Vikings’ starting quarterback.
Here’s where things get interesting. Historically, Murray has done a great job of preventing himself from getting hit throughout his career, but this time, it didn’t go that way. It puts the Vikings in a difficult situation as well. Carson Wentz is now in as the quarterback and will play the rest of the game barring injury.
He will likely miss next week’s game against the Chicago Bears as well, which is brutal in itself.
