As expected, the Minnesota Vikings sent out quarterback J.J. McCarthy to start the second half. He was up and down during the first half and showed that he was a rookie.

That's completely fine for a first performance in the National Football League. Every play is a learning opportunity. There will be plenty of things to learn from his first game, but there was also a lot to celebrate.

J.J. McCarthy throws first NFL touchdown pass to Trishton Jackson

The third quarter was good for the Vikings and McCarthy. At the Raiders 45 yard line, the Vikings sent Jackson on a vertical route and McCarthy hit him with ease for a touchdown.

Jackson had a subtitle move to create that extra bit of separation to make the throw so easy for McCarthy. The touchdown put the Vikings within a score of the Raiders at 20-14 and it's the first of many exciting plays from the quarterback of the future.
