The Minnesota Vikings rookies and quarterbacks have reported to training camp, and general manager Nolan Teasley has already made roster moves.

On Monday, the Vikings made a couple of roster moves, adjusting the roster down two spots.

  • ILB Keli Lawson: Waived
  • WR Luky Wysong: Waived with a non-football injury designation
  • RB Kejon Owens: Placed on the active/non-football illness list

Minnesota Vikings make three roster moves

Lawson was an interesting player. At 6-4 and 230 pounds, he’s got a nice size profile for a player who plays off the ball. He had a profile worth investing in, especially with his length, but being cut now likely means he came into camp not in great shape. They haven’t seen him since mandatory minicamp broke on June 11th.

Wysong being waived with an injury designation is a strong signal in a different way. He was a nice complementary receiver at Arizona, but never stood out in a big way. Going into training camp, he had an uphill battle to make the roster, with his profile signaling that he’s a slot receiver at 5-10 and 186 pounds.

The interesting one here is Owens. They kept him, but he was placed on the active/non-football injury list with an injury that hasn’t been disclosed. It’s an uphill battle for Owens to make the roster, but he is going to get plenty of reps during the preseason.
