Multiple Minnesota Vikings suffered injuries on Saturday afternoon, but none bigger than to safety Jamal Adams. He injured his knee on a non-contact play in the first quarter and ended up being carted to the locker room.

Initially, it didn’t look good for Adams, and that was confirmed on Sunday afternoon, as he will miss the entire season with the injury.

Minnesota Vikings lose Jamal Adams for the season

It’s a brutal blow for a number of reasons. Adams signed a few weeks ago, bringing an interesting element to the back seven of Brian Flores’ defense. He had looked really good overall, flashing his blitzing ability with consistency. He had a couple of really nice plays earlier in the game, which brought a lot of excitement from the fanbase.

It’s brutal for Adams especially, as he’s dealt with a laundry list of injuries in his career, especially since 2021, when he missed the last 16 games of the year.

Not only is it tough for Adams, but the Vikings as well. Last year, they signed Rondale Moore to a deal in free agency with the hope he could contribute as a punt returner and slot receiver. He ended up tearing his ACL on a punt return in the first quarter of the first preseason game. They were planning to bring him back this season, but he ended up passing away in February.

Where does this leave the Vikings on the back seven? It opens up the competition with the likes of Jacob Thomas and could keep Theo Jackson around just due to numbers.

Tough situation all around, and hopefully Adams has a quick, effective recovery so he can return next season.
