A team rarely gets out of a game without somebody getting injured. It's an incredibly tough game that puts your body through the ringer. Bumps and bruises are a huge part of the game and the Minnesota Vikings are no stranger to that.

They had two potential starters placed on injured reserve before the season even began in quarterback J.J. McCarthy and cornerback Mekhi Blackmon. Then, left tackle Christian Darrisaw tore his ACL and MCL against the Los Angeles Rams. Even so, the Vikings have done a good job staying healthy.

Kevin O'Connell gives positive updates on multiple injuries

In the 27-25 win over the Green Bay Packers, the Vikings didn't come out unscathed. They lost edge rusher Pat Jones II and running back Aaron Jones during the game and both of them eventually left the game for good, with Aaron making an attempt to come back.

During his Monday afternoon press conference, head coach Kevin O'Connell gave multiple injury updates.

EDGE Pat Jones II

Jones has dealt with knee issues over the last couple of months, including missing the game against the Atlanta Falcons. After Sunday's game, O'Connell expressed some cautious optimism that he escaped major injury and it seems like they did.

"Just injury updates wise, did get some really positive news on Pat Jones today. He'll have a chance to even possibly make it this week. We'll see how he works through it, but I'll keep you guys posted on that."

The Vikings could survive without Jones with Gabe Murphy having played well in his role. However, the veteran presence of Jones would be huge for the Vikings.

RB Aaron Jones

Jones appeared to get stepped on during the game and suffered what O'Connell called a thigh contusion after the game. He did return to the game, but ended up leaving the game for good shortly after.

"And then Aaron Jones is doing well with that quad contusion, and should not keep him from participating this week."

Jones being available against a porous Lions defensive line will be huge going into Sunday night.

CB Fabian Moreau

Moreau has been the one Vikings player that hasn't played the last two weeks. He suffered a hip injury against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football.

"Fabian Monroe continues to do well, and he'll potentially work back in throughout the week, and we'll make an assessment of where he's at."

This is very similar to what O'Connell said about Moreau last week and he didn't end up practicing at all. Having Moreau available will be huge for depth purposes.
