After the signing of Stephon Gilmore was announced on Sunday morning, the Minnesota Vikings made it official on Monday. The two-time All-Pro will make a huge difference for the cornerback room.
In order to add Gilmore to the roster, the Vikings needed to clear out a roster spot for him. They did that and then some.
Signed: CB Stephon Gilmore and WR Justin Hall
Waived: WR Ty James and P Seth Vernon
Hall was an undrafted free agent out of Ball State in 2022 where he spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders. He was waived during final cutdown day and transitioned to the USFL where he played with the Houston Gamblers. He caught 47 passes for 515 yards and four touchdowns. When the Gamblers folded into the Houston Roughnecks, Hall stayed on and put up better numbers, catching 56 passes for 603 yards and three touchdowns. He will come in and compete for a roster spot, but likely will stay on the practice squad.
Vernon being waived means that Ryan Wright has won the punter job. That shouldn't be too much of a shock. Wright was the exclusive holder for Will Reichard and didn't give that job up. He also was the better punter during practice and the games.
