The New Orleans Saints are hosting free agent cornerback Terrion Arnold for a visit.
Per NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo, New Orleans is the latest NFL club to see if Arnold is worth adding to their roster. The Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans have had the former first-round pick in for visits recently, and others are monitoring him as well.
Arnold was the No. 24 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Detriot Lions. His on-field performance has been shaky at best, but the real reason he’s out of Detroit after just two years is his off-the-field issue.
Terrion Arnold’ current legal battle
Arnold is due for an arraignment hearing this week in Tampa, Florida as he faces a total of eight felonies. A total of four charges of kidnapping, plus four charges of armed robbery all stem from an alleged incident in February of 2026:

(The charges) stem from the robbery at Terrion Arnold’s Airbnb earlier this year, where prosecutors allege a group of Arnold’s associates carried out a retaliatory kidnapping, robbery, and assault against people they believed were responsible. That investigation has now escalated with Arnold’s arrest, marking a dramatic turn in a case that had previously resulted in charges against several other individuals who pleaded guilty this week while Arnold publicly maintained he had done nothing wrong. Those individuals have agreed to testify in court on the matter.
Arnold had repeatedly denied any involvement through his attorney, and the Lions had also expressed confidence that he wasn’t implicated based on the information available to them at the time. His arrest changes the legal landscape significantly, though it’s important to remember that an arrest is an allegation—not a conviction. The case will now move into the court system, where prosecutors will have to prove the charges they’ve brought.

It’s a lot, clearly, and interested teams need to make sure Arnold is in the clear before making a decision. Fortunately for the Saints, they have someone already in the building who can potentially vouch for him.
New Orleans can reunite Arnold with Kool-Aid McKinistry
New Orleans’ No. 1 cornerback, Kool-Aid McKinistry, knows Arnold quite well. The two started together for two years at Alabama (2022-23) when Nick Saban and his defensive backfield background was still running the program.
As Garafolo mentions, the Saints can leverage Arnold’s history with McKinistry to their advantage.
McKinistry can not only vet Arnold as a person, but also help him acclimate to the team if a deal is reached. The latter only becomes a possibility if the courts favor his side.
New Orleans does not need Arnold, but if he’s cleared and wants to play with his former college running mate again, the Saints may have one of the best cases to land him before the season.
