After news of the New York Giants’ expectation to hire former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, there is already a clear favorite for their next offensive coordinator.

While the process is far from finalized, per Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Harbaugh is expected to bring his offensive coordinator from the Baltimore Ravens with him. They’ll need to follow all of the neccesary protocols first of interviewing other candidates, but it appears that Todd Monken could be the Giants’ next offensive coordinator.

Todd Monken fits perfectly in New York

The most underrated aspect of the Harbaugh hire is that he could potentially bring Monken with him as his offensive coordinator. If this turns out to be the case after they complete interviews, it sets the Giants up for an electric 2026 season.

Monken’s track record, resume, and offensive philosophy are a perfect fit for the Giants’ personnel. With a hard-nosed, run-first approach, Monken should be able to unlock Jaxson Dart’s potential.

Monken has been an offensive coordinator in the NFL for 7 years, with stops in Tampa Bay, Cleveland, and Baltimore. The most intriguing place he led an offense was from 2020 to 2022, where he served as Georgia’s offensive coordinator during their untouchable run in college football. That college background is ideal for developing around Dart.

As the Ravens’ offensive coordinator, he was integral to Lamar Jackson’s elite production since 2023. Aside from a shaky 2025 season marred by injuries, the Ravens ranked in the top 10 in most offensive statistics.

In 2023, the Ravens were first in points and fourth in total yards, while ranking first in the league in rushing offense. In 2024, they finished third in points and first in total yards with the best rushing attack once again. The only aberration for his time as a play caller came in 2023 when the Ravens had the 21st-best passing offense in terms of yardage.

Monken certainly can’t take credit for all of Jackson’s success, considering he’s such an elite athlete. However, it is worth noting that Jackson won the MVP in 2023 and finished in second in 2024 while Monken was leading the offense.

Building an offense through the running game is perfect for the current roster and the region’s identity. Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy give Monken a dynamic one-two punch in the backfield. Additionally, in a city that prides itself on grit and toughness, having a team that seeks to win at the line of scrimmage feels incredibly fitting.

Hopefully, this hiring comes to fruition, because it would be massive for the Giants to have a hot first year under Harbaugh.
