2026 Pittsburgh Steelers Training camp: Start date, practice times, a change to Friday Night Lights, and more in Latrobe
Here is the latest news on Pittsburgh Steelers 2026 training camp, which will be back in Latrobe yet again.
You know that you are one step closer to the start of the 2026 NFL season when teams start announcing their dates and times for training camp. Sure that may be over two months away, but every seasoned NFL fan knows that when camp starts, the season starts.
Despite a new regime taking over in Pittsburgh, some things remain the same. The Pittsburgh Steelers will be back in Latrobe come late July, but there will be some changes. Let’s look at everything.
Steelers announce 2026 training camp dates
The first thing of note here is that every practice will begin at 11:00 am. In years past, the Steelers alternated between morning start times and afternoon start times. One year may be a 10:55 am start, and the next may be a 2:55 pm start.
The big change here, in my opinion, though, is that Friday Night Lights has been moved to, well, Saturday. The annual practice under the lights often serves as a de facto scrimmage where the team goes at it in full pads, often in front of a packed stadium at Latrobe Memorial.
In all, there will be 14 practices open to the public in Latrobe, and I expect everyone of them to be filled with action. We know that Aaron Rodgers will be back for his final season, and we know that a new-look offense will dominate the scene.
It will be interesting to see if a Mike McCarthy-led camp is as physical as what Mike Tomlin had in the past. People would often point to the late-season meltdowns as an influence from hard, physical camps, but you could also argue that the lack of injuries suffered by the Steelers was due in large part to being callused from such brutal conditions.
We’ll find out in Pittsburgh soon enough.
