Cam Ward’s bar to clear with the Titans in 2026 is low.

NASHVILLE — Cam Ward did not make ESPN’s top 10 quarterbacks heading into the 2026 season. Nobody expected him to after the Tennessee Titans quarterback finished nightmare rookie year.

2025 was defined by coaching dysfunction, roster turnover, and organizational chaos.

The question worth asking right now, with training camp two weeks away, isn’t whether Ward belongs on this year’s list. It’s whether he can earn his way onto next year’s. That’s the bar.

Anything less should force Tennessee to start exploring their options.

ESPN’s quarterback rankings paint the picture for Ward

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler polled executives, coaches, and scouts to produce a consensus top 10 at each position.

The quarterback list reads from top to bottom: Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Matt Stafford (the reigning MVP), Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, Dak Prescott, Justin Herbert, Drake May, Jared Goff, and Caleb Williams at 10.

The honorable mentions include Sam Darnold, Jayden Daniels, Jordan Love, Brock Purdy, Trevor Lawrence, Baker Mayfield, and Jalen Hurts.

Three additional quarterbacks received votes without making honorable mention: Bo Nix, Daniel Jones, and CJ Stroud. That’s 20 names. None of them are Cam Ward.

The Caleb Williams comparison is instructive.

Williams, the No. 1 overall pick ahead of Ward, did not appear anywhere on last year’s list heading into his second season. Now he sits at 10th. For Ward, the goal is the same.
