Tennessee Titans could find more value keeping Will Levis than cutting him in 2026
Will Levis is still on the Tennessee Titans roster…but for how long?
NASHVILLE — Will Levis and the Tennessee Titans have reached an inflection point. Sitting behind both Cam Ward and offseason addition Mitch Trubisky on the depth chart, keeping Levis suddenly feels like a realistic option.
Most expect Levis to land elsewhere before the regular season, and still do.
Titans should still try to trade Levis
There is a real case for Tennessee keeping him as its QB3 rather than cutting him outright.
It has been a while since Levis commanded much attention in Nashville. His tenure with the Titans has been about as close to a worst-case scenario as anyone could have drawn up when the franchise selected him in the second round. Some of that falls on Levis. Some of it falls on the organizational dysfunction that surrounded him.
Either way, the results (5-16 as a starter) speak for themselves.
The interception problem has not gone away.
Levis threw two picks at Monday’s OTA practice. The last time reporters were on the field, he threw one directly into the stomach of defensive lineman Solomon Thomas. The turnover issues remain constant.
That said, Levis is a better football player than Hendon Hooker, who the Titans also signed this offseason.
He is a better athlete, possesses a stronger arm, and demonstrates better accuracy and ball placement. His decision-making leaves plenty to be desired, but the physical toolkit still separates him from Hooker as a viable NFL backup. If the Titans are choosing between the two for the third quarterback spot, Levis should win that competition. The more logical roster construction would be to cut Hooker, potentially bring him back on the practice squad, and slot Levis behind Ward and Trubisky as the QB3.
That arrangement gives Levis a season to rewire his brain in the most harmless environment possible.
He has not played in a game, not even a preseason contest, in a long time. This would essentially be a science experiment with minimal organizational risk.
