The Philadelphia Eagles’ defense put on a show in Saturday night’s 38-7 dismantling of the New York Giants.

The Eagles forced Giants QB Daniel Jones into one interception, while sacking him five times. Philadelphia’s defensive front bottled up Saquon Barkley, holding him to just 61 yards rushing in the win.

Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon has been the subject of scrutiny after his unit struggled down the stretch of the regular season. However, after a week of rest and recovery, Gannon guided his defense to a masterful performance.

After the game, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni took time to call out media members who threw mud on Gannon’s name in recent weeks.

“Jonathan Gannon puts these guys in a great position. Sometimes I have to hear some things about Jonathan Gannon,” Sirianni said while calling out members of Eagles media.

“This guy is an unbelievable coordinator,” Sirianni continued. “The fact that he doesn’t get respect from our radio station blows my mind. This guy is an incredible coordinator, people love to play for this guy.”

With such a big lead throughout the contest, the Eagles’ defense could have easily taken a drive off. However, Gannon has instilled a championship level of pride in his group, which fought hard until the final whistle.

“So, every time I hear an answer about Jonathan Gannon I laugh to myself,” Sirianni said with a smile. “Matter of fact, coaches from other teams ask me, ‘Does Jonathan Gannon get (expletive) here?’ I’m like, ‘Somehow, yeah.’ Like, this guy is incredible. He’s gonna be a head football coach in the National Football League because of what he does. This guy is a stud.”

Gannon is considered to be the frontrunner for the Houston Texans’ head coaching job. However, it’s clear that he isn’t letting his coaching future get in the way of the Eagles’ path to the Super Bowl.
