One stat proves what Eagles fans have known for quite some time – Jalen Hurts is the most explosive quarterback in the NFL.

Since 2021, Hurts leads all quarterbacks in explosive plays per game (7.25). Explosive plays are defined by 20+ yard completions and 15+ yard rushes.

It’s important to note that he has been able to accomplish this feat without star receiver A.J. Brown in his arsenal.

Eagles fans got a taste of what Brown can bring to the offense in Week 1. Not only did he tie his career-high with 155 receiving yards, he also set the franchise record for most receiving yards in a team debut.

Brown is one of the most explosive pass catchers in the league. He’s just one game into his fourth season, but Brown is averaging a whopping 16.2 yards per reception for his career.

Not to mention that Quez Watkins (13th in YPR) and Devonta Smith (23rd in YPR) proved to be downfield assets last season.

Hurts’ mobility is what sets him apart. He finished the Week 1 win over the Lions with 17 rushes for 90 yards and a score.

Okay, that was a little too easy.

Now, Eagles brass would probably prefer to see their franchise quarterback take less hits, but Hurts’ ability to tuck it and run gives defensive coordinators migraines.

He still has much to prove as a passer, but GM Howie Roseman has provided him with all the tools necessary to transition from a good quarterback to a great one.
