The 2024-25 college basketball season officially came to an end on Monday night with the Florida Gators' win against the Houston Cougars in the national championship game.

On3 is already looking ahead to next season, quickly releasing some early 2025-26 preseason rankings after Florida's win against Houston.

The national sports media outlet has Houston as the preseason No. 1 team, followed by Duke at No. 2 and Alabama at No. 3. Kentucky and Louisville round out the top five.

On3 has the Tennessee Vols at No. 18 in their early rankings. That's mostly due to the amount of talent the Vols are losing from their roster this offseason (Jordan Gainey, Chaz Lanier, Jahmai Mashack, Igor Milicic, Zakai Zeigler).

The Vols, of course, are reloading via the NCAA transfer portal, already landing Maryland transfer Ja'Kobi Gillespie and Vanderbilt transfer Jaylen Carey. Tennessee is also in the mix for several other transfer players, including Maryland's Rodney Rice

I expect Tennessee to be better than the No. 18 program in the nation next season. But I also think this ranking is fair considering how much production the Vols are losing from this past season's squad. Tennessee will have to prove they can run it back with a mostly new cast of characters next season.
