Colts set to have joint practices in training camp with the Packers and Ravens

The Colts have made it a habit at this point to take part in at least one set of joint practices each season with an opponent on their preseason schedule. For the second season in a row, they will actually take part in joint practices twice. Head coach Shane Steichen announced after an OTA practice that the Colts will host the Green Bay Packers for joint practices ahead of their Week 2 preseason matchup on August 16.
During this time, he also mentioned that the team was still working on other things as well. And Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh let that out of the bag later in the day by sharing they would host the Colts for joint practices ahead of their Week 1 preseason matchup on August 7. Joint practices allow teams to compete against someone other than their own team. This usually comes with some sort of scrimmage during one of the practice sessions, and as a result, you usually see most of the starters sit out of the actual game.
This training camp and preseason will be extra interesting for the Colts, of course, with their upcoming QB battle between Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones. So getting live-action snaps against two of the best teams in the NFL should help the Colts make that important decision before Week 1 of the regular season. The Ravens' matchup will be extra intriguing with Lamar Jackson on the other side, one of the best running QBs the NFL has ever seen, someone Richardson would be wise to watch closely and try to learn from during those practice sessions.
