Former Oregon defensive tackle Derrick Harmon entered the week as a well-hyped commodity in this year's NFL Draft class, but his performance in the on-field drills at the NFL Scouting Combine made him the biggest standout of the day.

On the NFL Network broadcast, Harmon was compared to Chiefs' 3x Super Bowl champion defensive tackle Chris Jones, who is far and away the best defensive tackle in the NFL. That's a lofty comparison for Harmon, but there's plenty of reason to believe that he has a bright NFL future ahead of him.

The measurables are a very close comparison. Jones has about an inch in height on Harmon, but the weight, arm length, and 10-yard split in the 40-yard dash all line up closely.

Harmon looked smooth and athletic throughout his drills, showcasing the explosiveness and flexibility needed to play the defensive tackle position well at the next level. When you pair that with the production profile, Harmon looks like a lock to go in the first round of the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.

If you want a defensive tackle that can make a serious impact in the pass rush, then Harmon is your guy. He's capable of lining up all up and down the defensive line, as wide as playing over the tight end and all the way down inside in the A gap. Primarily, though, Harmon lived in the B gap for the Oregon defensive line, and led all defensive tackles in the country with 55. Second place was a full 12 pressures behind him.

Harmon has the traits and the production of a difference maker at the next level. He did nothing but help himself at the NFL Scouting Combine.
