It is the NFL Scouting Combine week, which marks the point where the offseason typically heats up around the NFL. One of the biggest discussions between teams outside of the draft may just be Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns.

Garrett requested a trade from the Browns earlier in the month and Cleveland has stayed put that they have no plans to move him. However, if it is going to pick up some, expect that to be this week when agents are talking in Indianapolis. Not that a trade would happen anytime soon, but conversations will take place.

If Cleveland trades Garrett, the asking point looks to be at least two first-round picks. However, ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky floated a trade idea that would land the Browns their QB of the future.

“Cleveland’s in search of a quarterback,” Orlovsky stated in an interview with PHNX Sports. “I don’t know what Arizona’s long-term plans are with Kyler. Do they envision him as the guy? Do they not? If they didn’t, then that’s a trade partner.”

Murray is currently making an average of $46 million a season and is under contract through 2028. The Browns would have to make some contract restructures happen before trading Garrett, as well as to fit Murray’s contract. The Cardinals QB threw for 3,851 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in 17 games last season. Murray added 572 yards on the ground and five touchdowns.

Cleveland badly needs a quarterback and will be adding at least two this offseason. While the draft and free agency make the most sense, do not till out a trade. The most important position on the roster is one that Cleveland hasn’t been able to figure out. The big swing for Deshaun Watson has failed and he’s likely to miss 2025 with the Achilles.

An interesting trade idea from Orlovsky to say the least. Murray has not been an elite quarterback in this league, but he has been solid. The Browns would undoubtedly upgrade the QB position with a player they just haven’t had.
