Despite the NFL salary cap looking like it's going to be higher than expected, the Bills still don't have a lot to work with, at least not until making some moves like restructures and extensions.

One this is definitely needed on this team, and that's a wide receiver with speed that's capable of stretching the field vertically. There's a veteran option out there with a checkered injury history that has the chance at being a low cost, high upside addition for Josh Allen and the offense, and that's Darius Slayton.

Our team put together a primer of some of the biggest values in this year's free agency, and Slayton certainly fits the bill.

Slayton is one of the NFL's most explosive, yet underrated, wideouts. He's managed to produce some OK numbers despite some very poor surrounding circumstances, but is still in his prime at 28-years-old and hasn't taken a step back in terms of skillset.

If (or when) he joins a team with even just an average quarterback and a good offense, at minimum, he'll finally be able to showcase his talents in full, making him an even bigger value than he already is heading into 2025 free agency.

Yes, the injuries are a concern, but that downside will be reflected in what seems to be a low going rate on the market. Slayton has played on some truly awful New York Giants rosters with poor quarterback play. Simply having the threat of him on the field, a player able to beat man coverage and torch defenders deep on the opposite end of Josh Allen's rocket arm, provides a threat that opposing defenses didn't have to account for much in the 2024 season. Slayton is an option that could provide massive dividends on a cheap contract, and the Bills should be all over that.
