The Arizona Cardinals had a strong 6-4 record heading into their Week 11 bye week, but their season went downhill from there.

They lost five of their final seven games to finish the year with an 8-9 record. They ended the season as the tenth seed in the NFC and third in the NFC West. They have some real improvements to make if they want to make the jump and become a real threat in the NFC. A new A to Z Sports mock draft has them adding a former national champion to their defense to begin to build a winning culture in Arizona.

Cardinals land Michigan DT Kenneth Grant in a new 2025 NFL Mock Draft

"Kenneth Grant is one of the most impressive pound for pound athletes in the class who can reach top speed far faster than a 350-pound man should. Grant is a perfect scheme fit for the Arizona Cardinals front and fills a massive need as they were one of the worst tackling teams in the run game."

New A to Z Sports Mock Draft

Kenneth Grant gets undervalued on Michigan's defense because players like Mason Graham and Will Johnson get the most recognition. But Grant's combination of strength and athleticism at his size pops off the screen on his film. He projects as a day-one impact player in the run game but offers more upside in the passing game than people realize.

Getting a true difference-maker at defensive tackle would elevate Jonathan Gannon's defensive scheme. The rest of the NFC West having some roster uncertainty, the Cardinals have a prime chance to move into the driver's seat for the divisional crown in 2025. The hope will be that a full offseason together will lead to Kyler Murray and Marvin Harrison Jr. taking a big step forward next season to elevate the offensive results. So prioritizing defense early in the draft seems to be the right path forward for the Cardinals.
