Notre Dame football made an extremely interesting offer on Wednesday when the Fighting Irish offered 2026 Waxahachie (Texas) High School wide receiver Kohen Brown. The Texas star is currently committed to the USC Trojans, a hated rival of the program. That isn’t where the intrigue ends.
As it turns out, Brown has a personal relationship with Notre Dame running back commit Javian Osborne, who is also a Texas native. Osborne was not shy about his excitement when Brown was offered, and clearly he is going to be a massive part of this recruitment.
Brown committed to the Trojan back on April 2nd, but his recruitment has remained open. He is rated as a three-star recruit by every major recruiting platform. On the On3 Industry ranking, Brown currently sits as the No. 460 overall player, No. 73 wide receiver, and No. 62 player in the state of Texas for the 2026 recruiting class.
Despite those lower rankings, it hasn’t stopped a long list of programs for pursuing the Texas product. Some of Brown’s top offers include the Fighting Irish, the Trojans, Ole Miss, Miami, Auburn, Nebraska, TCU, Arkansas, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Boston College, Michigan State, BYU, Cal, Baylor, Arizona, Kansas State, and Kansas among many others.
As a junior, Brown made a ton of plays for Waxahachie. In 13 games, the 5-11, 175-pound speedster managed to haul in 54 receptions for 1,084 yards and 11 touchdowns. Brown has a personal best 100-meter time of 10.69 seconds, and that was on full display last season.
It is uncertain if Notre Dame is going to make a huge push for Brown, or just how much interest there is from Brown’s side. Clearly there is some interest, but as of now, he is firmly committed to USC. It will be interesting to see if wide receivers coach Mike Brown can make a strong push. His speed, however, is a very intriguing potential addition.
