The Dallas Cowboys' 2025 schedule is out along with all details on primetime matchups, biggest showdowns, and more. And it's one with a historic quirk for an NFL team.
But on this post, it's time to dive into predictions for each game. There are major question marks about the Cowboys this season, in large part thanks to a new coaching staff and many new players expected to take on large roles.
Can they exceed their expected win total of 7.5? Let's dive into each game with some quick thoughts. Obviously, this is a team that we'll learn a lot about as we go, so consider this a fun exercise and to gear up for the year.
Week 1: at Philadelphia Eagles
The Cowboys will not lack motivation going into the NFL Kickoff as Brian Schottenheimer will get his players fired up versus the division rival and reigning Super Bowl champion. What they might lack is the overall roster depth and continuity the Eagles have going on. The Cowboys have a lot to prove before I predict this one to be a win.
Prediction: Loss (0-1)
Week 2: vs New York Giants
The Cowboys' home opener is a friendly one. The Giants have some pieces to be excited about including Abdul Carter and Malik Nabers, but they still lack the offensive line to fend off the attack of Micah Parsons and Co. Expect Russell Wilson to be sacked plenty in this one.
Prediction: Win (1-1)
Week 3: at Chicago Bears
The Bears did plenty to turn around the roster and Ben Johnson will not be easy to slow down after Chicago rebuilt the offensive line. I wonder how much insight Matt Eberflus can offer to pressure Caleb Williams, who was sacked 68 times in 2024. I think the Cowboys' secondary struggles on this one and drops it.
Prediction: Loss (1-2)
Week 4: vs Green Bay Packers
Can the Cowboys overcome the ghost of the Packers' last visit to AT&T Stadium? It feels like Green Bay has enough pass catchers to stress a secondary with little stablished CB play going into the season.
Prediction: Loss (1-3)
Week 5: at New York Jets
The Jets bet on Justin Fields and I expect the Cowboys to be able to shut down the cornerback, who has yet to prove he can operate from the pocket under pressure. It's a young offensive line being rebuilt but I think the Cowboys defense gets the best of it.
Prediction: Win (2-3)
Week 6: at Carolina Panthers
Jonathan Mingo revenge game! In all seriousness, the Cowboys offense probably bests Carolina's thin offense on this one. Dak Prescott should have a clean pocket on this one.
Prediction: Win (3-3)
Week 7: vs Washington Commanders
Eberflus' defense held Jayden Daniels to 18 points last year and that was counting a last-second Hail Mary pass. I worry about the Commanders adding Deebo Samuel among other pieces but I think the Cowboys beat their division rival at home.
Prediction: Win (4-3)
Week 8: at Denver Broncos
Bo Nix under pressure is a different Bo Nix than the one who works with a clean pocket. That matters when going up against Micah Parsons and friends. I expect the Cowboys defense to remain a strong pass rushing unit, which should show on this one.
Prediction: Win (5-3)
Week 9: vs Arizona Cardinals
You might consider this one a shocker but I have the Cardinals beating the Cowboys. They've focused on rebuilding their defense and by Week 9, it might be paying dividends. This is more a hunch than anything else, plus I think Marvin Harrison Jr. goes off.
Prediction: Loss (5-4)
Week 11: at Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders had an exciting NFL Draft after picking Ashton Jeanty and they have some promising weapons. But the roster remains one of the worst in the NFL and they don't have a scary quarterback. Give me the Cowboys in Vegas.
Prediction: Win (6-4)
Week 12: vs Philadelphia Eagles
Dak Prescott has been good against the Eagles for most of his career and I don't see these two teams sweeping the other if he stays healthy, which I'm assuming for these predictions. The Cowboys pull off the offset as Prescott and George Pickens have better chemistry after the bye week.
Prediction: Win (7-4)
Week 13: vs Kansas City Chiefs
Who knows if the Chiefs have fixed their offensive line issues by the time they face the Cowboys but this is Andy Reid vs. Brian Schottenheimer. I have to go with the former.
Prediction: Loss (7-5)
Week 14: at Detroit Lions
The Cowboys were absolutely dominated by the Lions in 2024 and while there should be major question marks in Detroit following the departures of their coordinators, the roster is too good. I think the offensive line neutralizes the Cowboys' top defensive strenght though there's a chance Prescott turns it into a shootout.
Prediction: Loss (7-6)
Week 15: vs Minnesota Vikings
It's hard to know what to expect from J.J. McCarthy in his pseudo-rookie season. Can the Vikings slow down Lamb and Pickens with a thin cornerback room and can McCarthy beat an Eberflus-led defense likely to have DeMarvion Overshown back at this point of the year? It's a tough one to predict but I'll take Prescott versus Brian Flores' aggressive blitzing as the tiebreaker.
Prediction: Win (8-6)
Week 16: vs Los Angeles Chargers
This might be the best group of weapons Justin Herbert has had and Jim Harbaugh's culture should really be taking a hold of L.A. by now. The Chargers will likely be the most physical team in this one. That should show in the scoreboard.
Prediction: Loss (8-7)
Week 17: @ Washington Commanders
Just like with the Eagles, I have the Cowboys and Commanders splitting the series. Daniels and Kingsbury have something special going on and I think that shows against Dallas late in the year.
Prediction: Loss (8-8)
Week 18: @ New York Giants
The Giants will probably be desperate to get to the finish line while the Cowboys go in thinking of a Wild Card spot, perhaps with tiebreakers involved. I've got the Cowboys crossing their fingers for nine wins to be enough for a playoff spot, which wouldn't have been in 2024.
Prediction: Win (9-8)
