The Indianapolis Colts are still waiting to find out if Anthony Richardson will be able to play after missing a full week of practice, but they did get some good news ahead of Week 17.

One of their top wide receivers, Alec Pierce, has cleared the NFL's concussion protocol and will be active for their matchup with the New York Giants.

Pierce, along with Josh Downs, led the Colts with five receiving touchdowns this season, along with him having the second most yards even though he only has 58 targets on the year.

He left the team's Week 15 loss to the Denver Broncos after taking a hard fall that ultimately landed him in the NFL's concussion protocol. He was forced to miss the team's Week 16 win over the Tennessee Titans but has now cleared protocol and holds no injury designation ahead of Week 17. Which means he is good to go and will suit up against the Giants.

Pierce has had success with Richardson, but he also had a big outing against the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this season with Joe Flacco under center. Pierce turned three catches into 134 yards and a touchdown. So there's reason to believe Pierce's big play ability will be a part of the team's game plan no matter who is under center. And with the team having to win each of their final two games even to have a shot at the post season, getting Pierce back on the field is a big development.
