FOXBOROUGH, Mass – The New England Patriots were hit with some very bad news at the start of Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Rookie quarterback Drake Maye took a hard hit on the Patriots first offensive drive, and remained down on the ground for a moment. He was able to run off the field on his own, but went straight into the blue medical tent.
After spending some time in there, Maye exited the tent and headed into the locker room.
With just under four minutes remaining in the first quarter, the Patriots announced that Maye was questionable to return with a head injury.
The Patriots star quarterback was already sidelined this season with a concussion that he sustained in the Jets game back in October. And him heading to the locker room on Saturday is certainly not a good sign.
Jacoby Brissett took over at quarterback with Maye in the locker room.
