The NFL has fined Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith. On Saturday, the league announced that Smith received a punishment for unsportsmanlike conduct (taunting) during the third quarter of the Seahawks 31-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills last week.

Geno Smith was fined $11,255 for tossing the ball and hitting Dawuane Smoot after the play was over. The Seahawks quarterback didn't like that Bills cornerback Taron Johnson hit him — and the Bills player hasn't been fined.

Two other Seattle Seahawks players were punished this week as well. Linebacker Derick Hall was fined $11,510 for unnecessary roughness late hit) in the second quarter, and cornerback Tariq Woolen was fined 5,934 for unsportsmanlike conduct (taunting) as well because of a play in the first quarter.

While it's tough to see football players losing money like that for normal plays, at least it goes to a good cause. The fines collected are donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation to support legends in need.

After the loss to the Buffalo Bills last week, the Seattle Seahawks and quarterback Geno Smith have a huge divisional matchup on Sunday. They face the Los Angeles Rams at Lumen Field, and the game is particularly important because the NFC West is incredibly competitive.

The Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, and Seahawks are all 4-4, while the Rams are 3-4.
