Two of the Indianapolis Colts' most important players seem to have dodged major injures in Week 4
The Indianapolis Colts narrowly beat the Pittsburgh Steelers by a score of 27 to 24 in Week 4. They didn't leave this one unscathed, though. They didn't leave this one unscathed, though. The team already placed key rotational defensive lineman Tyquan Lewis on the IR, starting quarterback Anthony Richardson had to leave the game early with a hip injury, and star running back Jonathan Taylor was left on the sidelines due to an ankle injury.
But all things considered, Richardson and Taylor's injuries seem to be not as bad as they could have been. Richardson's condition is listed as day-to-day, and Taylor's high ankle sprain has been reported to be mild.
Anthony Richardson and Jonathan Taylor dodged major injuries

Early in Week 4, it looked like the Colts were going to have a special rushing day with the Steelers not having an answer for the Richardson – Taylor duo. But after Richardson went down with the hip injury, the run game was drastically less efficient. And it wasn't even because Richardson himself was running all over Pittsburgh's defense. It was due to the Steelers having to consider Richardson as a runner on every single play. Every potential handoff to Taylor could be a fake that he keeps himself. And Taylor is too good of a RB that if you take the focus off of him, he will gash you on the ground.
With Joe Flacco under center after Richardson's injury, it was significantly easier for the Steelers because they did not have to respect Flacco as a runner. Now, we won't know the official status for either Richardson or Taylor until we see if either is able to test their injuries at practice Wednesday-Friday. At this moment, it appears that Richardson has a better shot at playing than Taylor. And if Richardson is under center, I think that would be a big boost to a Trey Sermon-led backfield. And with the drop-off from Taylor to Sermon being so large, they need any boost they can get.
Colts LB Zaire Franklin took a shot at a Steelers player following a distasteful pregame gesture
The Indianapolis Colts picked up a big win in Week 4 over the Pittsburgh Steelers to improve to 2-2 on the year. To the victors goes the bragging rights, and Colts defensive captain Zaire Franklin had some choice words for a Steelers offensive player who chose to flip off the fans at Lucas Oil Stadium […]
The Colts placed yet another defensive starter on the IR after an injury suffered in Week 4
The Indianapolis Colts probably have a better starting defensive line on their injured reserve list right now than some NFL teams have playing on Sundays. They placed their 2023 sack leader Samson Ebukam on the IR early into training camp with a torn Achilles, and they placed DeForest Buckner on the IR with a high ankle […]
