Not only did the team have to move past yet another loss in Week 9, but now a defensive starter has been fined by the league after a hit many have labeled as "dirty" landed a Philadelphia Eagles player on the injury report.
Jaguars S Andre Cisco fined for dirty hit on Eagles OT Fred Johnson
During a touchdown by the Eagles in the third quarter, the Jaguars safety found himself one-on-one with an offensive lineman in the endzone. And instead of allowing himself to be blocked, he decided to go low and take the legs out from underneath Eagles offensive tackle Fred Johnson. The play can be seen in the X post below.
The league fined Cisco $11,817.00 for a low block the league deemed as "Unnecessary Roughness." Thankfully, Johnson was able to practice all week ahead of the Eagles Week 10 matchup, but he was a limited participant on Wednesday and Thursday to start the week. So, all things considered, this situation could have been a lot worse. Hopefully, Cisco will be able to use this as a learning moment and realize why he can't make that type of hit in the future. There is simply no place for dirty hits like that in the NFL, and Cisco is better than this one bad moment may suggest to people around the league.
