The Pittsburgh Steelers have trimmed their 90-man offseason roster and assembled their first iteration of the 53-man roster for the 2024 NFL season.

The team will continue to tinker with the roster throughout the coming weeks and during the season. This is merely the initial version of what will be an evolving roster for the 6x Super Bowl champions.

Without further ado, here's a look at the 53-man roster:

Note: Players with a single asterisk (*) are rookies

Quarterback (3)

IN: Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, Kyle Allen

Reaction: The truth of the matter here is that while it has been labeled as a competition since the start of camp, this battle never really existed. Fields looked more dynamic against Buffalo as Wilson struggled in his debut, but Pittsburgh believes Wilson is just now getting up to speed and after leading a TD drive against the Detroit Lions on Saturday, he just might be.

Kyle Allen works in as a nice insurance policy if injuries arise above.

Running back (3)

IN: Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren, Cordarrelle Patterson

Reaction: Harris and Warren are back and looking to build off what has quietly become one of the better RB tandems in the league. Harris is certainly the lead dog and workhorse, especially with Jaylen Warren nursing a hamstring, but he will get in where he fits in, as will Patterson who beats out a field of camp backs.

Tight end (4)

IN: Pat Freiermuth, Darnell Washington, Connor Heyward, MyCole Pruitt

Reaction: No real surprises here. Rodney "Hot Rod" Williams is a candidate for the practice squad.

Wide receiver (5)

IN: George Pickens, Roman Wilson*, Van Jefferson, Calvin Austin III, Scotty Miller, Dez Fitzpatrick

Reaction: There's a chance this room looks very different in light of the Brandon Aiyuk saga, but for now, this is what Pittsburgh has to work with. Pittsburgh could opt to add Noah Brown to the room, seeing as he was a surprise cut from the Houston Texans and fits Pittsburgh perfectly.

Steelers center Zach Frazier

Offensive line (9)

IN: Broderick Jones (LT), James Daniels (RG), Zach Frazier* (C), Isaac Seumalo (LG), Troy Fautanu* (RT), (OT) Dan Moore Jr., (OG) Mason McCormick* (OC) Ryan McCollum (OG) Spencer Anderson

Reaction: Broderick Jones has had a rough start to 2024, with the game against the Bills being one he wants to forget, and fast. How the entire situation plays out between him, Troy Fautanu, and Dan Moore Jr. will be very interesting, but the team has their tackles.

Defensive line – EDGE (11)

IN: (ED) T.J. Watt, (DT) Cam Heyward, (NT) Keeanu Benton, (DE) Larry Ogunjobi, (ED) Alex Highsmith (ED) Nick Herbig, (DE) Dean Lowry, (DT) Isaiahh Loudermilk, (DT) DeMarvin Leal, (NT) Montravius Adams, (DT) Logan Lee

Reaction: The first and only real surprise, Logan Lee made the roster despite playing either out of position or not at all in camp and the preseason.

Inside Linebacker (5)

In: Patrick Queen, Elandon Roberts, Payton Wilson, Tyler Matakevich, Mark Robinson

Reaction: The formation of this group was fairly known since the start of camp, especially with the Cole Holcomb news

Steelers CB Joey Porter Jr. Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Cornerback (5)

IN: Joey Porter Jr., Donte Jackson, Cory Trice Jr., (NCB) Beanie Bishop* Darius Rush

Reaction: Following a trip to the injured reserve for Grayland Arnold during the final week of practice in Latrobe, the slot CB role is in flux with Cam Sutton set to start the season on the suspended list.

Steelers Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick Barry Reeger-USA TODAY Sports

Safety (5)

IN: Minah Fitzpatrick, DeShon Elliott, Damontae Kazee, Miles Killebrew, Jalen Elliott

Reaction: There was a very slight chance that Ryan Watts beat out Damontae Kazee for the final safety spot, but Kazee can be used frequently in Pittsburgh's big nickel package, where three safeties are on the field.

With Watts heading to the I.R. Elliott takes the fifth spot.

Special teams (3)

In: Chris Boswell (K), Cameron Johnston (P), Christian Kuntz (LS)

Reaction: The easiest position group for the front office.
