Hyattsville, MD – The New England Patriots have one final preseason game, and that means it's the last chance for some of the players to show that they deserve a spot on the roster. 

So, the latest announcement from the Washington Commanders just made their lives a lot easier to do that.

The Commanders have 34 players who will sit out of Sunday night's primetime game, allowing them to rest their starters and prepare for the regular season. 

So the Patriots will be going up against the second, third, and even fourth units. And since New England players aren't going up against the best from the Commanders, they need to take advantage and make an impact. 

Because if they can't make something happen tonight, how are they going to fare in a regular season game against the best of the best?

Among those sitting out is rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, who was selected just before Drake Maye with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He has already been named the team's starter. 

As for Maye, he has one final opportunity to prove that he deserves that starting role over Jacoby Brissett.
