Josh Downs
The Colts ruled Josh Downs out for their Week 1 matchup against the Houston Texans. Downs suffered a high ankle sprain early in August and hasn't been able to practice since. He had a pretty strong rookie season, with him ending the year with 68 receptions, 771 yards, and two touchdowns. What makes this even more impressive was his having to play with backup quarterback Gardner Minshew for most of the season.
He now has to start his sophomore season watching on the sideline. But on the bright side, he was seen doing some individual work on the sideline during Friday's practice, so hopefully, he is nearing a return to the field in the coming weeks.
Colts Injury Report
Along with Downs, the Colts also announced that kicker Matt Gay is questionable to play in this game. Gay suffered a hernia sometime after the team's preseason finale against the Cincinnati Bengals and ended up needing surgery. He missed all week of practice, and if the team elects to rule him out for this game, they will elevate kicker Spencer Shrader from their practice squad to act as the starter on Sunday.
