With the Dallas Cowboys finished with their second preseason game, the feeling around the team is much better. The energy in practices are up and the team is gearing up.

Now the dreaded second round of cuts. Taking the roster from 85 players to 80. A day that’s been in the back of everyone’s minds heading into the second week of preseason.

As first reported by Todd Archer, Dallas Cowboys reporter for ESPN, the team made their official moves as followed:

1. K Lirim Hajrullahu is waived.
2. DB Quadre Mosely is released.
3. WR Jaquarii Roberson is released.
4. LB Christian Sam is waived with an injury designation.
5. TE Jeremy Sprinkle is waived with an injury designation.

The Dallas Cowboys now only have Brett Maher on the roster as the only kicker. Likely due to his notably more powerful leg. This would potentially be his second go 'round with the Cowboys.

With Sprinkle now gone, it leaves the Cowboys with a decision to keep Peyton Hendershot, Sean McKeon, or potentially both. Dalton Schultz and Jake Ferguson are the Cowboys TE1 and TE2.

Mosely and Roberson are both rookie undrafted free agents and were already considered long-shots to make team. If they clear waivers, they could be potential practice squad candidates.

With Sam gone, it leaves the final LB spot (projected one available out of five) between Devin Harper, Luke Gifford and Malik Jefferson.

As it stands, the Cowboys now have 81 players on the roster.

A reminder that OL Isaac Alarcon gets a roster exemption by being a part of the NFL’s international player program. Having performed well as at both tackle and guard. Still very much in play for the swing tackle position.

The Dallas Cowboys conclude their preseason on Saturday against the Seattle Seahawks. They will need to finalize their final (initial) 53-man roster the following Tuesday by 3 p.m. central.
