The Green Bay Packers sent the NFL world into a frenzy on Thursday night by trading star wide receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders for a first-round and second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Green Bay and Las Vegas had been working on the trade for a couple of days. And quarterback Aaron Rodgers knew when he agreed to return to the Packers in 2022 that Adams was likely done in Green Bay. But the move still came as a shock to the rest of us.
Adams will be reunited in Las Vegas with quarterback Derek Carr, his college teammate at Fresno State. Carr and Adams are extremely close and have always dreamed of playing together.
The opportunity to play with Carr, plus Adams' disillusionment with the Packers franchise, were the driving factors in this trade.

Adams will receive a new lucrative contract with the Raiders, but money wasn't the reason the five-time Pro-Bowl wide receiver seemingly forced his way out of Green Bay.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Adams' agents, Frank Bauer and Kenny Chapman, confirmed on Thursday night that the Packers offered the wide receiver more money than the Raiders.
Adams, though, simply wanted to play in Las Vegas with Carr.
Adams is from the San Francisco area, he went to college in Fresno (six hours from Las Vegas), and he just bought a house in Las Vegas.
Green Bay did their part. They offered Adams a hefty contract and brought back Rodgers. There was nothing else the Packers could've done.
Adams' heart just wasn't in Green Bay any longer.
It's a sudden end to one of the greatest quarterback/wide receiver duos of all time. And it wasn't what the Packers wanted — it was what they were forced to do.
