The Atlanta Falcons have submitted a request to conduct a second interview with Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald and Ravens assistant coach Anthony Weaver for their head coaching opening, as noted by the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Atlanta already held a virtual interview with Macdonald and Weaver earlier this month.
The Falcons are on the lookout for a new head coach after they parted ways with Arthur Smith on Jan. 8. The NFC South side has completed at least one interview with 13 different head coaching candidates, including now-former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris.
Macdonald is in his second season as defensive coordinator for the Ravens. The Macdonald-led Ravens defense is just coming off of a prolific performance against the Houston Texans in the AFC divisional round in which it allowed a mere one scoring drive. On Weaver’s part, he has helped to get the best out of Baltimore's well-rounded front seven.
Macdonald and Weaver currently have their sights set on Baltimore’s upcoming AFC title game showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs.
