The New England Patriots had many injury scares during their loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
However, there is one that would truly hurt the offense if this player were sidelined longterm.
Kendrick Bourne went down after getting tackled by Eli Apple on third-down. He remained down on the ground, grabbing his right leg and immediately took his helmet off. In clear discomfort, the trainers rushed over to him and he was able to walk off the field on his own.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport provided an update on the receiver's status, reporting that Bourne has an MRI scheduled for Monday to evaluate his knee injury and "the hope is it’s an MCL injury" following the initial diagnosis rather than anything more serious.
Bourne has been the Patriots' top receiver this season, with 34 receptions for 370 yards and three touchdowns. This included a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Dolphins, getting New England on the board first.
DeVante Parker also went down on Sunday after getting hit hard and going down with a head injury. He was slow to get up, clearly losing his balance from the harsh hit. And soon after the Patriots ruled him out.
With this most likely being a concussion, Parker will also be out for at least a week.
The good news is they have Tyquan Thornton and Kayshon Boutte, who were both healthy scratches prior to the game and can fill in if possible. But, Bourne's strong production will leave a major gap if the MRI comes back with bad news.
JuJu Smith-Schuster doesn’t hold back on his opinion of controversial play at end of game
The receiver was called for unsportsmanlike conduct in the fourth quarter.
