FOXBOROUGH, Mass – Kayshon Boutte is itching to get back on the field.

The rookie receiver appeared in the New England Patriots season opener, but has been a healthy inactive ever since.

However, the Patriots are without some of their top receivers, with Kendrick Bourne being placed on injured reserve for the rest of the season with a torn ACL and DeVante Parker out for at least this week after sustaining a concussion in the loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

So this might provide Boutte with the opportunity he has been looking for. And when asked if he was ready, the receiver didn't hesitate: “Yes, sir."

“It’s been seven weeks. Now my name is being called. So I’ve just gotta step up."

During his first and only game on the field for the Patriots, Boutte was unable to haul in all four of his targets. And this was a major change after he finished with 131 receptions for 1,728 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns during his three years at LSU.

So it's safe to say that this has been a tough transition.

“It’s been difficult. Coming from college and playing every game,” Boutte said. “Just that translating to the NFL. Playing Week 1, unfortunately things happened the way they (did), but it’s part of the game, you know? Just a learning experience."

Despite all the struggles he has had this season, there has been one constant in his life: the support from his teammates.

And that is what encourages him to keep going.

“Even though things are not going my way, just being there for my teammates,” Boutte said. “Going to games, supporting them, showing them that even when things are hard on me, I’m still able to be there for them.”

But now, Boutte is hoping this is finally his time to show what he is capable of. And these past seven weeks have made him hungrier then even to get out there and provide a necessary spark for the offense.
