The New England Patriots lost a key member of their defensive line following Sunday's win and there was some speculation that they might look to bring in a familiar face.
However, that doesn't appear to be happening.
The Boston Herald's Andrew Callahan reports that the Patriots have not been in contact with Carl Davis Jr.'s camp about possibly bringing him back to New England.
Davis joined the Patriots in 2020, remaining with the Patriots until the end of the 2023 preseason. He was released in August as part of New England's final roster cuts.
Last week, Davis signed with the Seattle Seahawks practice squad.
The Patriots are in need of additional help on the defensive line after losing Daniel Ekuale for the season. The defensive tackle suffered a torn bicep in Sunday's win over the Jets.
Davon Godchaux also got hurt on Sunday, suffering an ankle injury.
Davis began his career with the Baltimore Ravens, being drafted in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He made stops with the Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts, and Jacksonville Jaguars before joining the Patriots. Across his nine years in the league, he has appeared in 72 games, including 19 games started, while recording 35 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
