The Denver Broncos just added increased depth to their defense while stealing a member from an AFC foe.

Defensive end Ronnie Perkins was signed by the Broncos off the Patriots practice squad on Monday morning, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports.

This provides Perkins with a fresh start, after he never appeared in a regular-season game during his tenure with the Patriots.

Perkins was drafted by the Patriots in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Coming out of Oregon, Perkins signed his four-year rookie contract, but was inactive for the first 13 games before being placed on injured reserve and sitting out for his entire rookie season.

Prior to the 2022 season, he was once again placed on injured reserve and on cutdown day in 2023 he was waived by the Patriots and re-signed to the practice squad.

With Frank Clark out due to a hip injury, the Broncos were in need of some help and they turned to Perkins. With him out indefinitely, Perkins might finally get a chance to play in a regular-season game.
